Clarification of vacancies for by-election pursuant to bylaw 6.9

As we launch into by-election nominations, we wanted to take an opportunity to notify members of an issue that was identified and corrected in regard to bylaw 6.9 – Vacancies.

When we initially announced the Board has called a by-election, we made reference to there being three vacancies. Our legal counsel clarified that if the Board was to call a by-election, their decision to do so must be made within 60 days after a vacancy occurs.  Therefore the Board has called for a by-election to fill two vacancies which arose within the 60-day period stated in the bylaw.

This change will not impair the election in any way, given members submit nominations regardless of the number of positions available.

This message is intended to provide clarification for anyone who might have noted the change in vacancies and were wondering why there is a difference between the announcement message and the information now available.

We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. If you haven’t already reviewed the nomination page and/or would like to learn more about the process and how to submit, please click here.
