CREB® welcomes Craig Watt as public director

By CREB®
CREB® is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Watt as public director to its board of directors, effective April 1.

Craig joins the board alongside newly elected directors Julie Bowser and Rick Campos, following the recent by-election. Together, they will support the board in advancing CREB®’s strategic priorities and governance work.

The role of public director brings an external, consumer-focused perspective to board discussions, supporting a broader understanding of risks, opportunities and the evolving real estate landscape.

“We are delighted to welcome Craig to the CREB® Board of Directors,” said Susanita de Diego, CREB® Chair. “His extensive experience in public policy, stakeholder engagement and governance will bring valuable insight as we continue to advance our strategic priorities and serve our members.”

The Board Development and Leadership Standing Committee (BDLSC), supported by staff, led a comprehensive recruitment process, reviewing a strong pool of candidates.

“Craig stood out for his depth of experience and his ability to navigate complex policy environments,” said Jesse Sinclair, chair of the BDLSC. “His background in government relations and industry engagement will strengthen the board’s perspective and support informed, forward-looking decision-making.”

Craig is a senior people leader and public policy professional with deep connections in Canada’s energy industry. He has held senior operational, policy and communications roles with Calgary-based business associations, including Enserva, the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP).

For more than a decade, and under seven different Ministers of Energy, Craig served as special representative in the Alberta Department of Energy, helping ensure Alberta’s broad energy ecosystem remained connected to government officials in Edmonton.

He previously operated his own business as an importer of fine wine, beer and spirits for more than a decade. "Having grown up around the real estate industry, I'm excited to join CREB® as a public director and to be able to support the work REALTORS® do guiding people through the biggest financial decision most people will ever make," Craig explained of his interest in joining the CREB® board.

An active volunteer in his community, Craig has volunteered as a hockey coach, campaign chair and board member for numerous organizations. His experience in governance, stakeholder engagement and strategic leadership will support CREB®’s continued focus on meeting member needs, maintaining the highest standards of financial stewardship and strengthening the profession.

Please join us in welcoming Craig as he begins his term with CREB®.
