CREB^® and real estate boards across Canada have been made aware of a potential scam targeting REALTORS^®. 

An unknown individual is contacting members through what appears to be Realtor.ca inquiries.  After requesting more information, they ask to meet via Teams or Zoom, sending a link that then prompts the REALTOR^® to “Update Teams” or install software.

Please do not install or update anything from these links. This is likely a malicious attempt to compromise your device. 

How to protect yourself:

• Only update Teams or Zoom through the official app— not through meeting links

• Verify the identity of anyone requesting a virtual meeting

• Be cautious of unexpected downloads or update prompts

• Report any suspicious messages or links to the Board

If you clicked on a suspicious link

• Stop using the device and disconnect from the internet

• Do not enter any login credentials

• Contact your IT support technician
