Repeal of blanket rezoning: Zoning changes in effect Aug. 4, 2026

By CREB®

On April 8, 2026, Calgary city council approved a repeal of blanket rezoning. Zoning changes came into effect on Aug. 4, 2026.

How this may affect your listings

One of the approved recommendations include changing the zoning of parcels back to their state prior to Aug. 6, 2024. As a result, any properties that were rezoned in 2024 and have not applied or been approved for an R-CG, R-G or H-GO development reverted back to their previous land use district.

Verify your listings

New, recently listed or active properties on the MLS® System that were listed before the zoning changes took effect may display outdated or incorrect zoning information.

To determine whether your listings have been affected, use the City of Calgary’s Find Your Land Use tool to verify the current zoning and update the listing’s zoning field as needed.

Please note: The zoning information that auto-populates when entering a listing may not yet reflect the updated land use district. We strongly encourage members to use this tool to verify a property’s current zoning.

CREB® has confirmed that Pillar 9™ and the City of Calgary are working together to update the new zoning information in REMapList™ as quickly as possible.
