Building community, one wall at a time

By CREB®

A wall going up may look like a small step in the construction of a home. For the family who will eventually live there, it represents something much bigger: a safe and affordable place to call home.

On Aug. 18, 14 CREB® members spent the day in Chestermere helping Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta build that future.

Working alongside Habitat’s construction team, volunteers contributed to a range of construction tasks, including framing, drywall installation and general construction. Habitat staff provided training and guidance throughout the day, giving volunteers the opportunity to put new skills to work while contributing to the build.

While the work was hands-on, the impact reaches beyond the construction site. Every task completed brings the home one step closer to being ready for a local family — and gives CREB® members a tangible way to support access to safe, affordable housing in the community.

A big thank you to Roberto Argenal, Sharon Shepherd, Jennifer Lapierre, Tim J. Walsh, Rob Jamieson, Krystian Sarna, Treena McMahon, Carson Harris, Jacinta Sargeant, Rubena Jessa, Valerie Richards, Clara Phuong Nguyen, Horace Rowe and Kendra Varoney for giving their time and helping build a stronger community.
