Poll participation
• 133 responses
• 49 responses were received before a technical fix to the poll was made on April 8, and 84 after the fix
Poll analysis
Responses were received both before and after a technical fix was implemented, which required careful review to assess the reliability of the results. Analysis of the pre and post fix responses shows consistent overall support for keeping comments enabled.
Overall results (133 completions):
• Leave comments on: 125 (94%)
• Turn comments off: 8 (6%)
Pre technical fix results (49 completions):
• Leave comments on: 41 (84%)
• Turn comments off: 8 (16%)
Post technical fix results (84 completions; fix implemented just before noon on Wednesday, April 8):
• Leave comments on: 84 (100%)
• Turn comments off: 0 (0%)
A clear majority of responses were received after the technical issue was resolved, lending additional confidence to the results. Credibility is further supported by the consistently low number of responses favouring turning comments off, both before and after the fix.
Overall, the results send a clear and consistent message: members strongly support keeping the comment function enabled.
What we’re doing
We heard you. Comments will remain enabled on CREB®Talk and CREB®Link articles.
Members consistently told us that they value the ability to share perspectives, ask questions, and engage in dialogue through comments. That feedback matters.
What we heard from you
Beyond the poll results, some members took the time to comment or contact us directly. While not every comment is reflected below, we want to play back the key themes we heard clearly and respectfully.
High level themes included:
• Turning comments off is seen as limiting communication rather than improving it
• Fair and consistent moderation matters more than silencing discussion
• Members value diverse perspectives even if they differ from their own
• Open commenting is viewed by many as important to transparency, accountability, and good governance
• CREB®Talk is seen as a rare and valuable forum for open member dialogue
• There is a strong desire for more member engagement—especially during times of organizational change
• Concerns were raised about poll integrity and clarity, particularly around technical issues and process transparency
• Respectful, professional discourse is essential; unmanaged behaviour can undermine dialogue
• Some members emphasized personal responsibility and self regulation to maintain constructive discussion
What happens next
We are taking the time to carefully digest what you’ve shared. There’s a lot to consider—some feedback reinforces what’s working well today, some highlights opportunities for improvement, and some may warrant deeper thought and further engagement.
Honouring member input means taking it seriously, reflecting on it thoughtfully, and being willing to evolve where it makes sense.
Our goal remains the same: to create a safe space where all members feel comfortable sharing their perspectives professionally and respectfully.
