This month, we recognize the achievements of women and girls, past and present, who have and continue to contribute to Canada through their dedication to politics, science, arts, business and the economy.
At the same time, we use this month to recognize the inequalities that many women still face – wage gaps, underrepresentation in leadership and barriers to entering and advancing in the workforce.Acknowledging these issues allows us to think of the necessary steps we can take towards a positive change.
Did you know? Women’s History Month coincides with Persons Day, the commemoration of the 1929 “Persons Case,” when Alberta’s Famous Five fought to have women legally recognized as persons under the British North America Act and secured the right to sit in the Senate.
