Reminder: Update temporary LINC numbers on active and pending listings

By CREB®
To improve the reliability of the MLS® System’s listing history, we are asking brokers and associates to review active and pending listings where the title has been registered, and update the LINC numbers in the MLS® listings from the temporary LINC to the registered LINC number on title.

When can a temporary LINC number be used?

1. Pending subdivision or development

If a parcel of land has received final approval and is granted a subdivision, a temporary LINC number may be used while the sub-division is being processed at the land titles office. However; once the subdivision is complete, a new permanent LINC number will be issued.

Reminder: Be sure to update the MLS® listing with the correct LINC number and legal description once it becomes available.

2. Duplex with separate titles

If your clients own a duplex and want to sell the units together or separately, you can:

Use the individual LINC numbers for each unit under residential listings.

Use a temporary LINC number for a combined listing under multi-family.

Important: As soon as one listing sells, you must terminate the other to avoid advertising a property that is no longer available.
