For this reason, the Practice Governance Standing Committee (PGSC) created an online suggestion form. The purpose of the new process is to give members a formal way to propose changes to rules, standards, or practices that impact our profession so the PGSC can consider and provide updates and outcomes to the member who made the suggestion.
Suggestions submitted through the online PGSC Suggestion Form must include:
• A specific idea
• Its purpose
• Benefits to members, the industry, or consumers
The information you provide helps guide the evaluation and possible implementation process, which may include up to five phases:
1. Review: The PGSC Chair reviews all submissions to determine if the suggestion will be added to a future meeting agenda.
2. Committee consideration: If added to the agenda, the committee discusses and considers the suggestion, guided by the strategic plan, existing standards, rules, and regulations.
3. PGSC decision: If the committee supports the suggestion for implementation, a recommendation is drafted.
4. Decision on recommendation: The recommendation is reviewed by the appropriate group(s), such as another committee, working group or the board of directors. A decision about the recommendation is made.
5. Implementation: Processes, rules, and policies are developed in preparation for implementation and communication to members.
Throughout these phases, the member who submitted the suggestion will be notified of its progress. If the suggestion does not advance to the next phase, the member will be notified.
