Submitting listings to the MLS® System on time

By CREB®
It is important to remember that listings must be uploaded to the MLS® System in a timely manner. As a reminder, MLS® listings must be listed within three calendar days of the commencement date of the listing agreement, as per CREB® Rules Part III, 3.01.

When activating a listing, the List Date on the Pillar 9™ input page must be within three calendar days of the current date and cannot be a date in the future. List dates outside of this range will cause an error and prevent activation.

If the seller instructs you to postpone activating the listing on the MLS® System, what's the next step?

Do: Document changes to the listing date using amendments to the listing contract.

Don't: Select incorrect dates on the Pillar 9™ input page.

Friendly reminder: An additional amendment to the listing contract may be required to change the listing's expiration date to ensure the minimum 60-day listing period is met.

The dates on the MLS® listing must match with the dates on the listing agreement or any amendments made. Using incorrect listing and expiration dates that do not match the listing agreement to force the listing to activate can cause issues beyond inaccurate listing information, including member and client frustration.

We appreciate everyone's due diligence in ensuring the MLS® System data continues to be accurate, reliable, and a trusted source of information. If you have any questions, contact CREB® Member Practice at crebmp@creb.ca for more information.
