Upon careful review, it has been determined CREB® does not currently have any qualified nominees to fill the vacant board position.
As a result, CREB® will continue to operate, as permitted in our Bylaws, under the leadership of its nine Directors until further notice.
Next steps will be communicated in January 2026, after a review by the Board of Directors.
What is required to qualify?
To run for election to the board of directors, candidates must meet the qualifications outlined in the CREB® Governance Manual and CREB® Bylaws Article 6.6 – Qualifications.
This includes the requirement that nominees have successfully completed, prior to the Board election, any such course as deemed as required by the Board (current required courses include CREA Leadership Courses 100, 200 and 300).
In addition, as per CREB® Bylaw 6.4(d) - Composition of Board, “at no time shall more than two (2) Directors from any one Brokerage and no more than three (3) Directors from any one real estate franchise serve on the Board.”
CREB®’s current Board of Directors already consists of three RE/MAX representatives and two CIR Realty representatives. As such, no additional representatives from the RE/MAX franchise nor the CIR Realty brokerage qualified to run in this by-election.
