Stay alert, stay safe

By CREB®

Working in real estate requires meeting new people all the time, so it’s important to make safety a part of your everyday practice to protect yourself and your business.

CREB® has recently been made aware of an incident at an open house, so we would like to remind members of some tips to keep you and your colleagues safe.

Physical:

  • Trust your gut. If something feels off, don’t push aside the instincts you’ve developed during your time as a REALTOR®.
  • Make a plan on how to identify and remove yourself from suspicious situations if they arise.
  • Know and follow safety tips set out by your brokerage and other industry professionals.

Psychological:

  • Take account of your work environment and ensure it aligns with your values.
  • Know your brokerage’s respectful workplace policy.
  • Ensure you have boundaries with both clients and colleagues.
  • Create a psychologically safe workspace.
