May 11 update

By CREB®

This week’s bulletin includes an overview of expanded public health measures, update on vaccine eligibility and reminder on showing restrictions.

Expanded public health measures

Expanded public health measures are now in effect across the province, for regions with at least 50 cases per 100,000 people, and at least 30 active cases. Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks and Rocky View County are all currently considered high case areas and fall into this category. Click here for a list of active cases by region.

All indoor gatherings are prohibited, outdoor gatherings are limited to 10 people (five people in high-case areas) and all schools have been transitioned to online learning. Indoor fitness, recreation and performance are prohibited, and outdoor activities of this nature are heavily restricted or prohibited as well, depending on case counts in your region.

Did you know?

To protect members and the public we serve, showing restrictions remain in place.

As a reminder, open houses are still banned and showings must be conducted by appointment only and with the following conditions:

  • Appointments are limited to two family-unit members at a time. This number does not include children. If a child must join, precautions must be taken for social distancing, masks, and sanitizing.
  • Masks are mandatory for all showings. Anyone with a medical mask exemption must receive advance clearance from sellers, who can decide whether they will still permit the appointment.
  • When showing homes, any sellers’ instructions further limiting showings must be followed. Sellers cannot waive the open house restrictions.

Please remember that COVID-19 protocols must always be adhered to during all aspects of members business interactions and operations. This includes personal behavior, showings and the conduct of clients.

Failure to follow AREA, Alberta Government, and other municipal guidance and orders may result in consequences that include:

  • Disciplinary action;
  • Municipal fines;
  • Increased provincial or municipal government restrictions on our activities and practices; or
  • Bringing the real estate profession into disrepute;

Please visit the COVID-19 FAQ page on CREB®Link for more information on showings and open houses.

Vaccine eligibility

Starting May 10, the Government of Alberta opened up vaccinations to all Albertans born in 2009 or earlier. This means all Albertans 12 years of age or older can now book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment through Alberta Health Services or participating pharmacies.

Click here for more information on booking a vaccination appointment.
