COVID-19 update

By CREB®

This week’s bulletin includes information on Alberta’s reopening plan and the anticipated timing for the relaunch of open houses.

Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan

Last week, Premier Jason Kenney announced Alberta’s Open for Summer Plan – a three-stage roadmap for easing COVID-19 restrictions and safely getting back to normal.

The three stages are based on vaccination thresholds and hospitalizations, with Stage 1 beginning today (June 1).

CREB®’s business operations will remain unchanged throughout this first stage of reopening. A limited number of CREB® staff will continue working from the building to provide access to the Member Service Centre by appointment.

Alberta will enter Stage 2 two weeks after 60 per cent of Albertans (born in 2009 or earlier) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and hospitalizations are below 500 and declining. These targets were met last week, so Stage 2 is expected to begin on June 10.

CREB® is actively assessing how the easing of restrictions in this stage will influence CREB®’s in-person business services and we will provide members with an update as soon as we have more information.

In the meantime, please continue to follow public health guidelines, get vaccinated and adhere to restrictions so we can all stay safe and eventually return to normal.

Coming soon: Relaunch of open houses

As Alberta enters Stage 2 of its Open for Summer Plan, the Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA) has confirmed that real estate professionals may also resume walk-in services and open houses. You should have received a detailed announcement from AREA about this earlier today.

Until AREA officially approves the relaunch date for walk-in services, please continue to follow current showing restrictions. For more information on these restrictions, please review our FAQs about showings and open houses on CREB®Link.

Any questions about the relaunch of open houses can be directed to communications@albertarealtor.ca.

Vaccine eligibility

All Albertans 12 years of age or older can now book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment through Alberta Health Services or participating pharmacies.
