Update on provincial data sharing

By CREB®

Pillar 9™ released a memo discussing provincial data sharing and inter-board listings earlier this week.

Following recent discussions around inter-board listings and data sharing in the province of Alberta, the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton (RAE) made a request to engage in inter-board listings as a lead up to data sharing in 2021. Pillar 9™ has rejected the proposal for inter-board listings in favor of a full data share for the benefit of all members.

Pillar 9™ was founded at the strong call of Alberta REALTORS® to provide a provincial MLS® System database and reduce the cost to belong. Inter-board listings, even if temporary, provide two incomplete databases in the province. This reduces the functionality of the database to both Pillar 9™ subscribers and RAE members. Additionally, having a listing that costs a member additional expense also detracts from the purposes of a single database in the province.

Pillar 9™ looks forward to working with RAE to deliver the services that members in Alberta are keen to access ASAP.
