As professionals who are about as close to experts on human behaviour as most people will ever meet, we already know the value of belonging to something bigger than ourselves.
A shared purpose and a higher calling that add richness and diversity to our lives. We shouldn’t take this for granted, nor should we take for granted the achievement of 75 years, as CREB® has changed and grown to meet the needs of its members.
Through the years, there have been a multitude of pressures and challenges on this organization. I have no doubt that 75 years ago, the founders of the Calgary Real Estate Board, folks like Clair J. Cote and Kennett Lyle, were holding their breath hoping the third attempt at organizing the local real estate business would lead to a celebration of its first birthday.
I suggest you bring a guest to the Diamond Gala who has been a member longer than you and invite someone who is new to the business. What better way to celebrate our collective wins as we look into the rear-view mirror, knowing that where we have been will help guide us to where we will go next.
By the way, if you do bring a “senior” and a “junior” guest to the gala, come find me and I’ll insist on buying all three of you a drink
